About our school

Bourke is located in the Northwest region of NSW and is a historic outback town on the banks of the Darling River, famed for welcoming travellers.

Bourke High School is a Connected Communities School. Connected Communities is a strategy to drive improved educational outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people. The strategy positions schools as community hubs that broaden the influence of the community and school leadership in the delivery of key services that support children and young people from birth through school into further training, study and employment.

The school is located 370 km northwest of Dubbo and has  a strong focus on student wellbeing, community engagement and quality teaching and learning. The school features a strong vocational education and training focus in all years with the goal of offering an inclusive and comprehensive academic and vocational curriculum while still providing sporting, social and cultural opportunities for all.
